It was my first time to attend the Philippine Fashion Week last week, May 12 (held at the SMX Convention Center), and I must say, it was such an exciting event! The show was pure eyegasm, just as I expected from the trendiest brand that hit Manila--Forever 21!
Printed maxi dresses in fresh summer colors are perfect for the season!
Bright, funky, eye-popping, solid colors put together in one outfit? Hellz yeah, COLOR BLOCKING!
Layered, textured pieces for that chic boho look. Definitely diggin' the hippie vibe!

Obviously, I just grabbed all of the photos I posted from my lovely fellow Brand Ambassadors. The reason:
Have a closer look...
I left my camera with my mom! *sigh* That's why I'm only camera-less person in the entire front row. HAHA! Oh well. Thank God for digital photos and the internetz! Mucho thanks to Trisha and Patricia! :)
Incidentally... PLAY NOW OR REGRET LATER! And I demand you read the lyrics! Please? :D
We'll start a demonstration
Or we'll create a scene
Or we'll create a scene
Make noise from our frustration
Newspapers, magazines
We'll turn them on their heads
You can't deny it
For once
We'll do what come naturally
We'll approach it casually
With no apology
For once
We will have the final say
Goodbye to yesterday
'Cause we know we're hear to stay
Pop, pop, pop goes the world
New sensation
Pop, pop, pop goes the world
New creation
Give every generation
A different set of rules
We'll start with TV stations
The radios and schools
Just try to have some fun
And don't get caught
We'll capture their attention
We'll make them quite aware
Of all of our intentions
We'll make 'em stop and stare
They'll take a second look
On second thought
Newspapers, magazines
We'll turn them on their heads
You can't deny it
For once
We'll do what come naturally
We'll approach it casually
With no apology
For once
We will have the final say
Goodbye to yesterday

This was the first song played at the Forever 21 Philippine Fashion Week show. I'm sure not all was aware (that is, if they even cared) who was singing, but when I first heard the intro I already knew it was the band Gossip's song. I know it may seem shallow, but I instantly felt my heart flutter, knowing that Beth Ditto's ultra-mega-awesome-to-the-highest-level plump spirit is with me through music! The moment I heard her voice, I was like, HELL YES, BETH DITTO'S SONG IS BEING PLAYED RIGHT NOW!!! And then I did a subtle little dance in my seat. :D Her powerful voice booming all around the place comforted me, making me feel that I wasn't alone, and it reminded me that being plus size shouldn't hinder me from exuding confidence no matter where I am and who I'm with. Though the plus size girls were undoubtedly a minority in the event (SAD. I really hope Forever 21 includes their plus size line modeled by plus size women next time), Beth Ditto, through her ΓΌber knock-down, energetic voice, gave me more confidence and positivity. She's really someone I idolize when it comes to not giving a shit about the stupid standards by the media and the society. OH BETH. YOU ARE MY FAT DIVA AND I LOVE YOU. ♥
I had fun meeting a lot of our supporters and taking pictures with them! Case in point: This photo of Lissa, Patricia, and I with Mercille, who's wearing a trendy, color blocked outfit! Love how she's so bold working her curves!
With my good friend, Tiff. :)
After the show, all the Brand Ambassadors were interviewed by Sarah Meier for Philippine Fashion Week TV! :O I was super shocked, I never expected to be interviewed--and by Sarah Meier of all people, one of my lady crushes!!! To add to the jitters, Danah wasn't there with me (it was her finals week then). :( Soooo... If ever you catch the interview on TV (it will be aired on ETC, dunno when though), please please please (!!!), pardon me for being so nervous. I wanted to say a lot but all the words get mixed up in my head, hence the sentences that seem to be on loop and the stuttering. DORK. Oh well, there's always a next time, and I swear I'll be better. ;)
I got so overwhelmed I kept blabbing to my family on how happy I was to have met Sarah and how she's so nice (and gorgeous) during the interview! She kept on saying that she's all for body acceptance, and before we ended, she even said (and I quote), "I know I'm not supposed to pick favorites, but I just did." AYYEEEEEE! *kilig*
Danah tweeted her that night and she tweeted back! :) She's so sweet. I love her all the more for supporting our advocacy! :)

Outfit of the Day!
Excuse the mess! :P Silk top, bubble shorts Forever 21 Plus | Shoes and accessories Forever 21 (Quite obvious, as you can see all the yellow bags on the floor!) | Makeup done by my mom! :)
I just fell in love with this bunny ring. I LOVE BUNNIES! :) I loved my studded bangles too! And for the sake of all our kikay readers, my nail polish is called Coffee Break by Orly. :)
Finally!!! NUDE PUMPS IN MY SIZE! Hallelujah! I've been *desperately* wanting this since it's-been-too-long-I-already-forgot-when!
A day after the show, we were called to style the mannequins in Forever 21 Mega Mall with clothes from the line we represent! ;) So here's my photo with my mannequin:
Since it's the summer time, I decided to play with fun prints and textures. I didn't put too much accessories on the mannequin so that the outfit would draw attention to the clothes itself, and not the accessories. ;) Whoever says prints shouldn't go with prints is just not creative and is too much of a prude to follow rules. I really believe that when it comes to fashion there shouldn't be any rules because you're expressing your awesome self. ;)
This is Danah's mannequin, which she says is named Sharon (I know, I know. How'd she know right? Don't ask me!). I love how she put this outfit together! I guess she intentionally made it sexy and stylish to let everyone know that PLUMP GIRLS CAN WEAR CROPPED TOPS TOO! ;)
Check out all the other Brand Ambassador's mannequins here.
*grateful sigh*
Side note: I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE WEEKEND, I'LL BE OFFICIALLY DONE WITH SCHOOL!!! :)
Keep loving your body,
Stacy
