APOLOGIES FOR THE HIATUS! January is considered hell month in our university for students who don't have courses yet--and that includes us--because it's mandatory that we apply for the majors of our choice at this time of the year, and that's one reason why it's only now that we get to finally update this precious blog. Generally speaking, school works made us quite busy. Oh isn't student life splendid?
MAMOU

We've never dined at Mamou before, so my mom brought us there because she had been swearing that their Angus steak was to die for. We're a family of carnivorous people-- WE LOVE LOVE LOVE MEAT-- so the idea of eating great steak excited us.

After ordering their specialty and while waiting (it takes 20-30 minutes for the steak to be dished out), a server gave us some hot wheat rolls. One bite and I couldn't resist asking for more (besides, it's free). The bread was so moist and soft and freshly baked. It was perfect. The way it tasted, you're assured that what you're eating was truly fiber-rich. :)

Subsequently finishing two baskets of the wheat rolls, the super star of the lunch finally arrived our table. The meat was marbleized with fat and was cooked to perfection, and they served it on a hot plate. I took a small slice in my mouth and instantly there was an explosion of rich flavor and tenderness. IT WAS REALLY GOOOOOOOOOOD. I was really delighted with what we ate so I just had to show my mom some lovin'. ;)
The steak was definitely worth the wait but its price (P2000++) was too much for me.
SANGO!
It's been ages since we last ate at the place where the Master Burger hails, so we decided to have lunch in Sango at the Shangri-La mall.
I ordered the Master Chili Burger and the "fry monster" in me insisted that I had to get a serving of fries. The waiter advised me that it takes 20 minutes for the burger to be ready but after 30 minutes of waiting without a burger in my hand, I called a waiter to speed up my order. Turns out the cooks missed my order because the place was quite packed when we went in. To keep me from getting mad at their glitchy service, they gave me an impromptu dessert, which was butter cookies topped with vanilla soft serve. I must say, it served its purpose, and it stalled me from getting pissed off. Smart move, Sango servers, smart move. ;)
After another 10 minutes, at last, my burger came. It was hefty and had thick slices of tomatoes and beef patty, garnished with minced onions. The melted cheese oozed out of the burger together with the chili sauce which made it all the more enticing. As I sank my teeth onto the burger, I let a sigh of delight come out my nostrils. It was so worth its price of 165 bucks. It made me wonder why I allowed a year to pass before I had another taste of their delicious Master Burgers.
GOLDEN SPOON
Frozen yogurts are becoming more and more popular nowadays. Instead of ice cream parlors, yogurt bars are sprouting like wild mushrooms. First there was Fro Yo, then Yo Swirls. Then White Hat joined joined the group as well as California Berry. It's not even right to say they're selling like hotcakes, because they sell much more than hotcakes! :P I've tried all the yogurts from all the franchises I've mentioned, and they taste okay. Yes, they modify the yogurt by having different flavors of it, but without a doubt, you know what you're eating is yogurt because of its sour, tangy taste.
Golden spoon was another frozen yogurt bar that we've yet to check out, so one night after having dinner, we decided to taste it to end our curiosity once and for all.
Surprisingly they had a wide variety of flavors. Instead of the typical Original-Vanilla-Green-tea menu that most yogurt bars offer, Golden spoon had more appealing flavors like Cake Batter, Fudge Brownie, Caramel, New York Cheesecake, and etc. Their toppings were mouth watering too-- hot fudge, caramel, fat-free and sugar-free melted marshmallow (my personal favorite), and other sugar-free and fat-free toppings.

Here's what my sister ordered, Cake Batter topped with chocolate truffles.
I ordered strawberry topped with hot fudge in a mini cup (their smallest serving), which didn't seem really small to me because it was enough to be shared by two. :) I ate a spoonful and IT WAS SO DELICIOUS! There was not even a single hint of sourness in it, which really made me question the servers if what I was eating was really yogurt. With a chuckle, they assured me that it was truly frozen yogurt. But it tasted so good! I swear, one taste and you'd also be doubtful. ;)
Golden Spoon offers free tasting, so if you're unsure of which flavor to get, take advantage and try all their various flavors! ;) But I must warn you, the more you taste, the more confused you'd get on deciding which to choose.
Golden Spoon is located at the ground floor of the Shangri-La mall, right after entering the main entrance, across The Body Shop. Their price is pocket-friendly too-- a serving in a mini cup costs P85, and every additional topping costs P20. :)
WOW, IT REALLY FEELS GOOD TO BE BACK PLUMPIES! :)
Zaftig lovin',
Stacy
