So near yet so far: HONG KONG

A week ago, we had a girl's bonding vacay at Hong Kong. My mom wanted to hang out with us so she surprised me and Stacy with this 4-day getaway... wait for it... with an overnight stay at Disneyland (OMGosh, I KNOW! We have the coolest mom in the world)!!! It's been 7 years since our last visit, and my oh my, having gone there recently made me feel like we're first timers again! I love how near Hong Kong is to our country, yet it's still so different in terms of, well, EVERYTHING (see the title's coherence? I can be sensibly smart too, you know). Boundaries are awesome. OHYEAH.

Ahhhas from this day:
  • I didn't realize that my coping mechanism is laughter. I laughed the morning away to fight my lack of sleep the night prior. I also totally made myself look like a complete buffoon all throughout.
  • Google maps is one knight in shining armor. Totally saved us from being (tourist) damsels in distress!
  • I love airports. It gives me a nice, gurgly feeling in my belly which makes me wanna rub and pinch Stacy's.
  • I don't mind not eating the cuisine of the country I'm visiting. I mean, it's not on the top of my list (unless I'm in Mexico or Japan).
  • Researching for the best shopping spots beforehand gives you the right to be the leader of the pack.
  • I thought my country has the best isaw (pork innards), I was wrong.
  • Their milkteas brings all them boyz to the yard, damn right, it's better than yours.
  • Shopping is a skill, not a hobby. And I apparently have this skill. It's in the genes.
  • Buying a police cap may be an dumb purchase, but I ASSURE YOU, YOU'LL NEED IT SOMEDAY. SOMEDAY I TELL 'YA!
  • Going to shops not locally found where you came from will make you plan trips of coming back even long before you leave. *cough*H&M*cough*
We close day 1 with sore feet and additional pounds for the luggage. Not a bad combination. :)

YAY LEFTOVERS (Shopping is a form of exercise. Seriously)!

I loved our second day in HK! The weather was cloudy, the people looked pretty (those Hongkies seriously know how to define FAZHIOWNG). The only factor that slightly put my emotional intelligence to the test was the lack of taxi cabs around the time we already wanted to go back to our hotel (due to soreness of the feet). But hey, these circumstances make us stronger shoppers! Heehee. :P

After taking a night nap when we got home, our mom didn't want to head out anymore. Since I got a bad purchase from H&M the day before, I wanted to go back so badly. I nagged begged and begged for my mom to let us go, and finally she agreed! After getting take out from Al Dente (which is right below our hotel), Stacy and I headed to Queens Road! I love Hong Kong's 7-day return policy. AWESOME! After successfully having my items replaced, Stacy and I walked around to look for milk tea (mom's request) and headed straight back to our hotel.

We then had our hot showers and watched an Italian talent show contest to sleep (dayum those acrobats were unbelievable, not to mention the Italian host's inappropriate boob shots).

DAY 3 and 4 will be posted by Stacy. IT'S ALL GONNA BE ABOUT OUR MAGICAL TIME AT DISNEYLAND!!!

Plump love,
Danah
