I promised myself to lessen the amount of meat I'll be eating this year... So after a good 2-week hiatus from eating my used-to-be staple food, I am so happy I finally indulged on meat dishes that are so WORTH IT.
Goodfellas Steaks and Burgers is one of the newest budding steak restos (and bar) in town. I've heard about it from friends and read about its reviews online, so I've been really wanting to try it. Also, my adorable tutee's dad is one of the co-owners, and they've been inviting me to try their U.S. certified Angus steaks and all-imported meat. Who can say no to that?
SO FINALLY, I WENT! :) YAY!
Photo grabbed from GoodFellas' Facebook page
The restaurant has a Mafia vibe to it; the walls are covered with photos of Italian actors and screenshots from the GodFather, and the waiters wore fedoras and polos with matching suspenders, which was pretty neat! You'll definitely want to smoke a big cigar and put on some shades in this resto's atmosphere. B)
The first thing I tried on the buffet of exquisite food was the Gambino Family, AKA shrimp salpicao (with button mushrooms - P425). I'm a real shrimp freak, and I loved the freshness of this dish, also the spiciness that comes along with it. It wasn't uberly drenched in oil, which is a plus for me. Sooo good!
I'm a really cheesy person, metaphorically and literally. Every time I find Mozzarella sticks on the menu, I just gotta try it! This is GoodFellas' Gotti's Cheese (P365). This is the first time I've seen Mozzarella sticks this long! The breading outside is so crunchy, while the cheese inside is sooo gooey -- a perfect combination! It comes with a salsa dip (the leaves covered it on the photo) that's freshly made.
Their red iced tea is my favorite!!! It's like liquefying red gummy bears and pouring it over a nice, tall glass of ice. YUM!!! Their drinks change daily, so order this one when it's available!
I absolutely loved their fried carbs! The Potato Chips (P120, solo) and french fries were so good and fresh! It was greaseless too! Amazing. It made me wonder how they cooked it. It wasn't salty, but definitely not tasteless. I loved it. It was perfect.
GoodFellas' Caesar salad (P275) is a plate of abundant lettuce, topped with bacon strips, croutons and parmesan cheese with a Caesar dressing they make from scratch.
Looking at this photo makes me wanna order another plate!!! Buffalo wings are my absolute favorite chicken dish, and Goodfellas' Flamingo Wings (P220, solo; P395 to share) are on the top of my list!!! It was perfectly tangy (also, not soggy) and spicy (tolerable, so you can try it too, if you're not into the hot side) -- 2 factors I look for to consider it really, really good.
Now on to the meaty part...
Goodfellas' House Steak (P345) is a slab of 1/4 kilo of meat that's charred on the outside but tender on the inside. The mashed potato on the side was so creamy and fluffy! It comes with 2 sauces, one balsamic vinegar and one gravy. The meat was aged, and the flavor was a li'l sharp. Nonetheless, you get more than what you pay for on this dish!
The Margherita Burger (P220 solo; P275 meal) is one of the dishes that made my meaty night extra awesome. The meat was light on the flavor, so adding a bit of ketchup and mustard would be great. The cheese, tomato and the pesto sauce on top of the 100g patty is to die for! The oat bun is really, really good too, very soft and chewy. I'd recommend this one hundred percent!
Pat and Geno's (P220 solo, P270 combo) is GoodFellas' version of the very famous Philly cheese steak sandwich. The melted cheese, caramelized onions and very tender slices of meat ultimately makes this one a must-try! I like that they used ciabatta for the bread, and it's one of my most favorite Italian breads of all time.
This is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE AMONG THEIR STEAK FAMILY! Santino's (P975, 8-10 ounces) is a U.S. Cab Prime Rib steak that's very tender, and marbled with enough fat to tickle your taste buds. The softness of the meat was so perfect that I just had to cut myself more of that juicy goodness! The fat melts in your mouth, which makes extraordinarily delicious.
Michael's Prime (P995) is a bigger version of Santino's. It wasn't as tender nor marbled with fat, but it was just as flavorful.
Make lunch time extra fancy with GoodFellas' Shotgun lunch menu! It's available Monday to Friday, from 11AM to 3PM.
I was only able to try Sammy "the bull" Gravano (185) because I was too full, but I was definitely satisfied with the Hungarian sausage's spiciness, flavor and crunch! It may a bit too spicy for some, but you can tone down the hotness with the yummy rice pilaf that goes so well with it.
*All lunch dishes come with rice or mashed potato, a serving of buttered veggies and refillable iced tea.
On top of all that, what I truly liked the most about the resto is the cozy vibe, the sophisticated interior and the friendly atmosphere (they even allowed me to plug in my i-pod to enjoy my own music)! They let their customers wear fedoras and pose with shotguns for that unique gangster experience! OH, WHAT JOY! :)
Don't you just love the how the light gleamed on my huge gun? :>
