THE PLUMP PINAY: OoTD: Korean Pop!

On September 11, we sported the eccentric Korean pop style as we headed to SM Mall of Asia to watch the Korean boy band, U-Kiss, and world-renowned Korean superstar, Rain.

I wasn't really the type who's into the pop culture of Korea, for the simple reason that I don't understand Korean. I've known people who go crazy for Korean artists, and I wonder how they could when they don't even understand the lyrics of their songs or whatever it is they're saying. But after watching U-Kiss and Rain perform, I figured out why because I myself was amazed and totally entertained despite the language barrier. Their music had really catchy beats that made me dance, and I enjoyed looking goofy as ever, imitating their dance steps! :) I even had a K-pop hangover after the concert that lead to late-night watching of youtube videos of other Korean pop bands (I really like 2NE1!)! Though I don't consider myself as a fan of the Korean mainstream music scene, I still can say that I appreciate it. What I like most about their culture is their wholesomeness and uniqueness, creating an entire new concept of style and quirkiness. That's why every time I see Koreans out and about, I am always fascinated by how they match their clothes in the most peculiar way and still be able to make it work! Koreans can totally buh-ring it!

oh my gosh! He had that Usher vibe going on. Seriously.

I must admit, Rain is not good-looking as in model material, but he is oozing with self-confidence and he's a really talented singer, dancer, and actor (talk about triple threat). No wonder he has already conquered Hollywood! Go, Asians! :)
