Red Girl Shop

I've been getting a lot questions on which foundation I use and I've been a huge fan of Max Factor's Second Skin until my hot friend (hi Eiks) recommended me this miracle in a bottle! :)

not my skin, just grabbed from Google

So here's my review...

As you can see in image 1, the cream is white in color, but once it touches your skin, it blends and adapts to your EXACT SKIN TONE. It smells a bit weird at first but you'll get used to it in no time.

It's a bit sticky but it finishes off matte WHICH I LOVE! The coverage is pretty neat too! :) I don't have to put too much concealer after!

I also love the fact that is has ARGAN OIL which does the skin a lot of benefits!!!

Argan Oil Benefits For Skin

Extracted from the kernel nuts of Argania Spinosa (Official name of Argan Tree), Argan oil has myriad uses in culinary and cosmetic fields. But it is in the cosmetic arena where it has gained so much popularity that it is now called liquid gold by European women because of its numerous cosmetic uses. It is highly valued by skin specialists and beauty experts. Argan oil has long been used as a beauty agent by Berber women; however it was not until recently when its rejuvenating qualities became known to outside world, thanks to Moroccan government which is now taking keen interest in replenishing the source of this precious oil.

Benefits of Argan Oil for Skin
  • Argan oil is a complex mixture of chemical compounds like fatty acids (80%), polyphenoles, antioxidants, carotenoids and other acids. Each of these components adds in a particular way to the inventory of uses of

  • Argan oil. Some of the benefits of Argan oil for the health and treatment of the skin can be recognized as;

  • Argan oil protects the skin against wrinkles appeared due to premature aging. It also helps reduce the appearance of crow’s feet (wrinkles under the eyes).

  • It is a very good remedy for dry skin. It does freshen and soften the skill more readily than any other skin softness creams or oils do.

  • Protein rich Argan oil is very good for the elasticity of skin. It strengthens the protein bonding structures in the skin which works to tighten the skin and make it look fresh.

  • Argan oil is good for reducing skin irritation. It quickly heals the marks caused by scratching on skin.

  • One of the most amazing facts about Argan oil is that along with dry skin it is equally good for oily skin.

  • Sebum is an oily substance secreted by sebaceous glands which keeps the skin wet and protects against dryness, but its excess secretion is bad for the skin. Argan oil regulates the secretion of sebum and keeps it to a manageable level.

  • Argan oil helps to prevent stretch marks on skin made by pregnancy.

  • It gives strength to the weak and easily breakable nails. It also strengthens the delicate skin at the root of nails and makes it smooth.

  • Argan oil is useful in the treatment of skin inflammatory diseases like Acne, Chickenpox and Psoriasis. Red dots or patches appear on the skin in these diseases.

  • In Arthritic and Rheumatic conditions in which joints and tissues of the body are damaged, Argan oil greatly soothes and reduces the pain.

Manic Panic!

Hola everybarreh!!!

I missed you all so much! So sorry for the long hiatus, as you all know we've been busy with our store launch and swimwear collection from I Love Koi and our modelling gigs with F21. But we just wanna say thank youuuuu so much-O for all the support and love. We try our best to be active on Twitter and Facebook so I hope that's still giving you enough updates about us. :)

SO... Since my red-headed sister made headlines and was featured online for her hawt, fiery hair (read: TRENDSETTER), I wanted to do something different since I've been always afraid to change my look. Ah keepz it clazzy with my brunette locks which is always and forever styled and colored at Azta Urban Salon Pioneer branch. This 2012, I've been  A LOT of Katy Perry videos and I just though her blue striking hair is soooo nice and cute!!! I wanted to color my hair a deeper shade 'cos her hair is almost neon blue. I asked my mudrabelz if I can, and with her permission, I asked Stacy for Jane's number, a store owner who sells Manic Panic hair dyes in jars.

After a few messages sent back and forth, I asked my pogi and macho driver to get the dye in Kapitolyo. Each jar is worth P1150, which is not expensive because you're paying for good quality hair dye here, ladies. The dye is made of herbs and vegetables, good enough for you to eat! JOKE! :) But seriously, you don't want your hair looking all frizzy and cooked up because of the harsh chemicals found in other hair dyes.

EYE-POPPING HUES FOR THE NEW YOU!!! ;) Haha!

Cutsies!!!

Of course I had to the best salon in town for the drastic life-changing event!!! CHAROT!!! :)

AZTA URBAN SALON!!! I asked Louie to color my hair first. It turned out to be moss green because the gold undertone of my brunette mane was mixed with the shocking blue dye. So I had to go the next day to have it re-done.

Gusot! Hehe.

POP!

Pros: the luster of your hair won't be stripped away because of the natural nutrients from the dye. :) It's made from herbs and plants so it's really gonna make your hair shine! Your hair will be colored brightly, making people turn their heads staring at you! It's an instant convo starter too :) Hihi!

Cons: a bit pricey but totally worth it. It's shipped from the US that's why the price is a bit high. You'll have to dye your hair or bleach it platinum to achieve the real color of the dye. It's gonna hurt, but hey, BEAUTY CAN HURT SOMETIMES. For all the right reasons though. Also, you'll have to spend on color-protective conditioners and shampoo. We recommend Bed Head or Fudge from US and Australia which Watsons sells in all their branches.

Also, the dye stains almost everything it touches. When you shower, you'll see the colored juices from your scalp flowing down the drain. Your towels, sheets and collars will most probably turn into whatever color you dyed your hair into.

THERE YOU GO!

We personally wanna thank Jane of Funky Streaks for giving us the 2nd jar for free! You are so sweet!!! :)

Also to Azta Urban Salon for being so accommodating and nice ALL THE FRIGGIN' TIME! :)

What color would you like to try soon? Don't be afraid. BE BOLD! BE FREE! BE THE PLUMPTASTIC WOMAN THAT YOU ARE!!! ;)

Plump love,
Danah

What is your size?

Hmm, I'm not sure, but I'm a 13 or 14 on Forever 21's jeans. :)

Have you always been plump? Why?

I started getting chubby when I was about, 8 years old. Then slowly i got bigger. I was still fine till 4th yr. high school.  It wasn't too much but I got teased a lot cause I stood out so much for being tall as well. Why? Because I love food. Ha! It's awesome, I was never the, "Omg, i gained weight!" type of girl. Even if I'm a chub chub, I always knew I looked good. So, maybe that's why I never did anything about it. I was blessed with a curvy body and being voluptuous didn't make me bothered by it. lol

Have you ever been bullied/verbally abused/discouraged because of your weight? (IF YES,) How did you react? What did you do about it?

Yes, of course. When I was younger, I was getting teased, but not a lot. But whenever we where asked to teach unfortunate kids in slum areas, I was called names that hurt me and made me feel bad deep inside. In highschool, I was teased too, since that was the puberty stage of boys. Whenever we'd play games, I wouldn't join, but I wanted to, I just couldn't because I didn't want to make a fool of myself if I did something physically challenging. I was always told that I'm pretty, gorgeous, stunning, beautiful, everything, but there was always a "but" afterwards.  I get it though, so I just make it seem that I'm okay with everything, that I didn't care but I did, somehow. I showed everyone that I'm confident and that's how they looked at  me. Deep inside, I'm burning with insecurities. Until now, I guess, that's the case. I can carry myself, but I'm not as confident as I seem.

Who is your style icon?

I don't think I have one, to be honest. Demi Lovato would be the closest as a fashion icon could be for me. I'm new to the fashion world even if I am a fashion design student. I have so much learning to do. My style is basically depending on my mood. I have no specific style. I like playing around with style.

Favorite store?

Forever 21 at the moment. I just buy my clothes anywhere I can find something nice. I'm not into brands too, so. :)

Favorite pieces of clothing to wear?

I basically mix and match whatever I can. But lately, I like cardigans over low sleeveless tops and skinny jeans. It's simple but I twist it with accessories and makeup. :)

How do you want people to see your style?
I want them to see me as girly girl but can go dark and messy. Demi Lovato style.

Where do you get your confidence from?

Just myself, and maybe some of my friends who believes i'm pretty even with a plump body. :)

How important are other people’s perception of you to you?

Depends on who we're talking about. I'm more of the type that I'll try to please everyone, but if they really can't appreciate me and I'm not doing anything wrong then it's their problem, not mine. But I do care about it. Yes. Not to the point that I would compromise, though. :)

Fill in the blank: A TRUE PLUMP PINAY IS Teena Arches.

What made you interested in make up?

Make up for me is: My art. My passion.

What made u create a youtube channel? Did you feel comfortable putting yourself out there right away? Why or why not?

Because I like performing. Acting was my first art and I love pleasing people. Plus, I wanted to share what I knew. Some people are amazed of what i can do and asks me all the time how, so I just made a video. I made a youtube channel, because I wanted to be famous and a known Filipina Makeup guru too. :)

Somehow, i'm shy of my channel, but sometimes I'm also proud of it cause a lot of people praise me for my talent. Generally, I am proud.

What are the pros and cons of having a public vlog?

Pros are, people get to know you easily cause it's in the internet. It's easy access. You also get to meet a lot of other girls and guys that do the same thing you do. You get attention and recognition. The only bad thing is, haters will always hate, even if you didn't do something bad. They can be just trolls or they don't like what you did. Beauty and art can never have that ONE perfect look. It always varies and not everyone will like it even if you think you did an amazing job.

Do you put on make up everyday? Why?

No, It also depends on my mood if I feel like it. Also, I want to make my face rest at times. I want my friends and family to be shocked and amazed when they see me fully made up for an event or occasion. If I wore thick makeup everytime, they'd be just used to it. No more "Wow!" factor. :)) I've always believed in the saying,  "Natural is beautiful but Makeup is glam" by Judy from ItsJudyTime on Youtube. :) Natural or Made up, we can always be beautiful.

Do you think make up makes women forget about natural beauty? Why or why not?

Sometimes, girls can be overpowered by makeup that it hides their true beautiful, God-given features. Makeup is only to enhance it, not change it. And I've seen a lot of girls cake on too much makeup when it's not needed. So sadly, yes.

What makes your channel stand out?

I think my humor makes it stand out and how I make some artsy fartsy makeup looks. It's not the typical glam makeup. I also, just started to have a TeenaTalk and an Ask Teena. People like it somehow. They think my corny "banats" are funny whenever I say something silly on my videos. :))

What is your message to girls who want to learn make up but are discouraged because of lack of knowledge/skills?

Youtube has thousands and thousands of videos about makeup. It's simple, If there's a Will, there's a Way. I you really want to learn, you'd do something about it. If you don't have internet, you can always apply in Makeup Seminars or really invest and sign up in a Beauty school. Or simply, asking a friend that knows how. Baby steps, and you'll learn how on your own. Play around with it and have fun! Don't worry about it and just do it. Practice! Practice! Practice! Soon enough, you'll be amazing at it. :)

Message to other Plump Pinays:

My message to the plump pinays  is, that you should love yourself as you are. God fearfully and wonderfully made us in His own image, therefore no one is ugly. Thick or thin, it's only about the confidence that you show people that makes them look at you in a perspective. It shouldn't matter what they think of you as long as you're happy. But of course, it's always nicer to live healthy. :) Love the body you're in and work every curve.

P.S Don't worry about the men. There are tons of guys that likes chubby girls more than stick thin ones. 'Nuff said. :)

An Artisté's Touch

This girl and I go way back. I had the privilege to meet her during a Christian summer camp (retreat, 2009), and our love for make up instantly sparked our friendship! :)

Kaycee and moi ♥

Kaycee Lim is definitely one of the rising young professional make up artists today. She has touched the faces of Andi-9, Rhian Ramos, Divine Lee and other top models in the country, all because of her talent, skill and love for the craft. Not to mention she graduated from the Australian College of Hair Design and Beauty (ACHDB) at the top of her class (*ehem*1st honor*ehem*)! Kaycee truly takes her passion seriously, and it is seen in the faces she lays her hands on.

My classic look

Now let's get to know more of our "official" make up artist (she has done our make up in the official photos on this site--banner, blogoversary shoot) through this special interview!

---

What sparked your love for make up?

As a little kid, I was already fascinated with make up. I loved watching my mom and titas do their own make up and I especially watch out for the moment when they put their lipstick on. In my adolescent years, (late high school years) I started putting on face powder, cheek tint and lip gloss. (if I remember correctly, that was Ponds face powder, Body Shop cheek tint and Lip-ice lipgloss). Youtube wasn't a big thing back then so there were no video tutorials to watch and learn from.

In my college years I was also known as the girl who always had make up on. That was such a big thing (like i was weird or something) because back then not a lot of girls cared about make up (unlike today, even kids wear make up!)

So my love for make up (on myself) was like inborn already (haha!). But what sparked my love for make up on other people is a different story.

I started out with my "make up career" by selling Mary Kay Skin Care and Cosmetics. At that time I only knew how to do makeup on myself, but my director taught me how to apply it on other people. After many makeovers, I thought to myself, "Wow, I can actually put makeup on other people!" I never really thought of it as a profession until someone told me to be serious about it and try becoming a make up artist then the rest was history.

The MUA in action

What was your course did you take up in ACHDB?

I took up the Diploma Course in Makeup. The diploma includes beauty, bridal, glamour, fashion, theater, camouflage, TV, photography, airbrush, special effects and basic hairstyling.

Natural-look

Sexy, flirty look

What products do you use on your clients?

I have different brands inside my kit, since I buy make up for its function not because of its brand.

I have MAC, Bobbi Brown, Mary Kay, Cinema Secrets, Kryolan, Makeup Forever, Revlon, Paladio, Prestige, Elianto, Elf, Maybelline, Etude House, etc. Basically from the high end brand to the drugstore ones.

What is your EDGE as an upcoming make up artist in the swarm of other aspiring MUAs?

Aside from having an Internationally Accredited Diploma, I am very professional and punctual. I also use quality products and I decant them from the pot for hygienic purposes. I am very passionate with my profession and will always deliver my best in every make up creation I do.

Forrest-inspired look

What do you love most about your job?

Aside from the actual make up application (from the foundation to the lipstick), what I love about it is that I get to meet new people, work on different faces, create and experiment with different looks. But the best part of it all is that it doesn't feel like its a job! I get paid to do what I like the most! How cool is that?

Kaycee has also worked on numerous fashion projects such as Rhett Eala, Anz+Rajo Laurel, Blued Fashion Show, Grand Allure for Phil. Fashion Week '09 and the Mango Fashion Show last 2010.

ALSO AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, she has come into terms with her body. This makes her a certified Plump Pinay! :)

On body acceptance:

What is your size?

M-L. Maybe that's around size 9-11. Not sure because most of my clothes are just labled with Medium and Large.

Were you always in this size?

No, I fluctuated from S-L through the years!

If not, how did you come into terms with accepting your body?

I've been dieting all my life. I started at the early age of 12. It came to a point where I got tired of it and that was around 3 years ago. I just told myself that I have to accept my body for what it is, may it be small, medium or large!

Did you go through crazy things to maintain a size? Why? What triggered this need to maintain slim?

Yes, I've tried all sorts of diet. I remember when I was 12 I would skip lunch and just watch my friend eat hers and I'd feel like I was already full. In college I went on a carrot juice diet, pineapple juice diet, drank diet pills, C2 diet, and no rice for maybe a little over four years.

So I would say I went thru crazy things just to be slim, but I never became a size 0 with all the dieting. I was a chubby kid growing up, and I never became skinny. That's why it went on for years because I never really reached my "ideal" weight and I eventually got tired of doing it which led me to accept the fact that: THIS IS IT. God created me this way so I should love my body for what it is.

Goofin' around with her mad skillz XD

How important are other people’s perception of you to you?

When I was younger I'd say it was important to me, to the point that I would do things just to fit in and please other people. But as I got older, I grew out of that thinking as well. I also realized that I am not an ordinary girl, I may not always fit in, but who cares, it's fun to be out of the ordinary (or in other words, weird. Haha!). We can never please everyone we meet in life. If we worry about it too much then we end up not living our lives and we get stuck in the thought of what other people will think about us.

Message to other Plump Pinays

We are not ordinary women, we are PLUMP and voluptuous so just love every bit of it instead of hating that extra fat you see. Love your own curves because no one will love them for you. Lose weight for the right reasons (health concerns) and not for the wrong ones (ex: getting a boyfriend). We can never change the way they look at us, but we can always change the way we look at ourselves. Just be comfortable in your own skin, don't think or worry of what other people might think of you because its such a waste of time and energy.

---

My experience with Kaycee (being her model) is always a fun one. She never fails to lull me to sleep with her very light hand, while her fragrant and well-sanitized brushes always tickle my fancy! Knowing that her products are always in tip-top quality, Kaycee will always be my go-to girl whenever I need serious make up needs. :)

Here's to more projects this 2011! So proud of you, girl! :*

PLUMPIES, WATCH OUT, 'COS KAYCEE'S HAND MIGHT JUST TOUCH YOUR FACE (birthday makeover giveaway coming soon)! ;)
